Welcome to Oystercatchers!
Welcome to our class page! My name is Miss Moulster and I am the class teacher based in Oystercatchers full time. We also have Mrs Jarrett and Mr Ball who cover my teacher time out of class (Friday afternoon).

Key information
- PE days are Wednesday and Friday. Please come in wearing your PE kit.
- Spelling homework is set on a Monday via Spelling Frame, to be completed by the
- TTRS is to be completed at least two times a week as well as reading at least 4-5 times a week
Here is a weekly timetable for Oystercatchers. This term our topic is ‘Britain Through the Ages’.

Reading
Our Whole Class Reading focus on a Monday and Friday will be ‘The Stolen Spear by Saviour Pirotta. It is an uplifting historical adventure story about a boy who ventures out from his village. Our WCR sessions are supported by the Ashely Booth reading scheme and this term, Tuesday-Thursday, we will be looking at texts exploring Prehistoric Britain, Poetry, Stone Age, Notable People, The Dot and Scientist Biographies.

English
In English this term, our text is called ‘Iron Age Girl’, which is a focus on historical narrative. Our key objectives will be to:
- Use apostrophes for possession.
- Using capital letters and full stops consistently.
- Writing in the past tense.
- Using coordinating conjunctions to expand sentences.
- Using prepositions.
Maths
This half term in Maths, our focus will be length and perimeter and fractions. We use the White Rose Maths scheme for Maths lessons, as well as daily flashbacks to ensure that previous learning is embedded. We also have a times table focus every afternoon to build fluency.


History
In History, we will be learning about prehistoric Britain, and trying to answer the question “How did we move from savage, through brilliant, to incredible?” We will be looking at what life was like during the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages, comparing this to life now and seeing how farming became embedded British way of life thousands of years ago.
DT
In DT, we will be learning about the prehistoric weaving. We will explore existing products and practise different weaving techniques. The children will then design, plan and create a woven bookmark.
PE
Oystercatchers PE days are: Wednesday and Friday. This half term’s focus will be circuits and hockey.


French
In French this half term, our focus is “les formes”. By the end of the unit pupils will be able to name ten shapes. They will also be able to name the numbers one to five and use the determiner un or une.
RW
In RW this half term, we will be exploring the key question ‘How do festivals and family life show what matters to a Jewish person?’
PSHE
In PSHE, we use the scheme Jigsaw. This half term, we will be looking at ‘Healthy Me’. This will explore what we can do to stay happy and healthy. Children will learn about eating healthily and exercising regularly, as well as exploring how to stay safe.
