Absence Procedures

In accordance with our safeguarding procedures, please call our reception team on 01626 890454 by 9am if your child is absent that day. After this time, we will then contact their parent/carer to find out why they are absent.

Our attendance in school has always been in line or above national average and we will always aim for 100% attendance for all our pupils, with regular monitoring of attendance. Any children whose attendance falls below 97% are then escalated as per our systems, and letters will be sent to parents warning them of the lower than average attendance.

Holidays in term time

Schools are unable to authorise any requests for absence relating to holidays in term time.

We would remind parents that unauthorised absences may result in the instigation of parental responsibility measures which could be a penalty notice, or a fine of up to £2,500 and/or a term of imprisonment of up to 3 months. We hope you will support us by ensuring that your child obtains the maximum benefit from their time at school by attending punctually for the 190 days each year that the law requires, unless prevented from doing so by an unavoidable circumstances.

If you have any questions about taking holidays in term time, please contact us at admin@starcross-primary.co.uk
