🍂 Razorbills Autumn Half Term Round Up 🍃

2 January 2026starcross_admin

📝We have enjoyed our history topic this term (Who was Pakal The Great?). We have learnt about Maya healthcare and we made houses to reflect what Maya daily life would be like. We also explored a diary entry written by a Maya woman and then wrote our own as if we were Pakal the Great….

🍂 Avocets Autumn half term round up 🍃

2 January 2026starcross_admin

🎻This term in Avocets, we made a strong start with an exciting trip to Powderham Castle to watch a violinist perform. 🚂Our topic explored the impact of the Great Western Railway and how it transformed life in Starcross, developing our understanding of local history. In maths, the children showed great perseverance while tackling a challenging…

🍂 Lapwings Autumn half term round up 🍃

2 January 2026starcross_admin

What an incredible Autumn 2 Lapwings have had! From exploring Ancient Egypt, spending a week on Dartmoor, sharing poetry on Michael Rosen day, celebrating anti-bulling week with odd socks and spreading Christmas cheer, it’s safe to say we’ve had a jam-packed term with lots of fun! We’ve had such rich and diverse learning across the…

🍂 Oystercatchers Autumn half term round up 🍃

2 January 2026starcross_admin

Oystercatchers have had an incredibly busy half term. 🌱From planting seeds in different quantities (to see which grew the best) to creating ancient greek pottery to learning about and building arrays in maths to exploring Dartmoor on their residential and composing a poem all about the adventures they had. 🎶It has all finished with wonderful…

🍂 Curlews Autumn half term round up 🍃

2 January 2026starcross_admin

👩‍⚕️This half term Curlews have been working hard learning about who looked after Britain’s soldiers and different nurses through history. We’ve used the knowledge we’ve learnt to write diaries as Florence Nightingale. ⚪🔶In the past few weeks, Curlews have loved learning about different 2D and 3D shapes. 🥖🫏Our biggest highlight this half term has been…

🍂 Kittiwakes Autumn half term round up 🍃

2 January 2026starcross_admin

Kittiwakes have been answering the question, ‘Who Rules Britain?’ this term. In history, the children have been learning about monarchs, their role and succession. They really enjoyed watching footage of King Charles III’s coronation, especially when they got to reenact it. In DT the children explored existing toy crowns, designed their own and then made…
