On the Trail 12th September

13 September 2025starcross_admin

On the trail!

Welcome to my weekly update!

Welcome back to school

It has been lovely to see all the children and parents again after the summer break. The school refurbishment works – the new reception, toilets and new flooring in all classrooms and the work area, have been very well received by the children and staff. There have been a few teething issues with the new entry system but we thank you for your patience as we iron out the issues.

Outdoor Learning

Despite the inclement weather, we have still been able to hold the outdoor learning sessions for Curlews and Oystercatchers. Last week there was singing around the campfire with Mr Ball and this week the children are taking responsibility for how the nature area looks and how we will care for it.

Cricket

This half term the children will all receive expert cricket coaching every Thursday.  We are hoping to upskill our children and staff and then compete in some cricket events later this year.

New Team Captains

Our new Year 6 Team Captains were announced today in Stars Assembly. There are two captains for each team. They will collect the team points each week and announce them in assembly. They will also lead their teams in competitions and during Sports Day. We are very proud of the six children that have been selected. They had to write a letter of application, and the competition was fierce. So well done to the chosen six.

Swimming at Starcross

We are starting our swimming sessions again next week. It will be Oystercatchers and Lapwings on 17th September, 24th September and 1st October. We will then have two weeks of swimming for our year 5 and year 6 children.
